USA Karate June 09, 2009

USA National Karate-do Federation (USA Karate) announced today that they have reached an agreement with Royster Productions to film and broadcast the eliminations and finals of the US Team Trials to be held as part of the USA National Karate Championships in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., July 17-19.  The event will be held at the Greater Ft. Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center.  In addition, Asian World of Martial Arts (AWMA) has signed on to become a presenting sponsor of the event as part of this agreement.

"We believe that this commitment on the part of AWMA and USA Karate to showcase our athletes and our sport worldwide is part of the ongoing changes within USA Karate to allow the sport to take its rightful place in the sporting world," related USA Karate Chief Executive Officer Luke St. Onge.  "This would not be possible without the support of Steve Ciukurescu at AWMA," continued St. Onge.  "Steve and the rest of the team at AWMA have made a real commitment both to USA Karate and the sport itself."  St. Onge added,"With this announcement 6 weeks in advance of the Nationals, we will have the chance to promote this broadcast worldwide"

The live broadcast will be in excess of eight hours, and will be shown live on teamusa.org.
